Acre Restaurant is a Michelin Guide restaurant located in San José del Cabo, Mexico, and a must-visit if you are in the area!

The restaurant is part of the Acre Resort and is a farm-to-table restaurant, with many ingredients grown on the on-property farm or locally sourced. They serve dinner daily, lunch on weekdays, brunch on weekends and holidays, and have a special weekly ribs night on Wednesdays.

Seating is completely outdoors, surrounded by lush vegetation and lit by overhead lanterns. The overall vibe of the restaurant is very nice and feel jungle like from the moment you enter the walkway up to the restaurant.

The dishes are all globally inspired, so you will find a variety of fresh options to choose from, as well as an extensive cocktail menu.

Overall Experience

Our reservation was for 6:30 pm on a Wednesday night in November. We booked the reservation via OpenTable. Before we arrived, the restaurant messaged us via OpenTable to check for dietary restrictions and offer the Wednesday “Ribs Night” special.

The Acre resort and restaurant are located at the end of a pretty bumpy dirt road, so keep that in mind when driving to the location. You may want a larger vehicle or SUV. We arrived in an SUV provided by our resort, Zadun.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. First, we checked in at the front desk and then followed the jungle path toward the restaurant. Once we arrived at the second desk, they were ready to seat us immediately. We found no issues with language or ordering, and with so many staff members on hand, the service was truly excellent.

Food at Acre

Naturally, the main star of the show at any restaurant is the food itself; everyone raves about this spot as a must-visit if you are in Cabo. I can say it does not disappoint!

All of the food we had was delicious and incredibly fresh. The portions weren’t too large but definitely filling enough!

We started our meal with the cheddar biscuits and a Green is Good cocktail. The biscuits were served with honey butter. Delicious, I could probably have eaten two more. Our waiter suggested the cocktail, and my husband seemed to enjoy it.

For our main courses, we ordered the Miso Fish and the Rigatoni Bolognese. Two very different meals, but both were incredible.

The Miso Fish came with a lobster-bisque risotto, a perfect pairing given my love for risotto. It was very tasty and not too overly rich. The fish was well-cooked and had great flavor. The Rigatoni Bolognese has the perfect amount of sauce and was flavorful, a little creamy, and delicious. No complaints to note about the main courses.

To round out the meal, we went with the Vanilla Caramel Sundae for dessert. There were many great dessert options on the menu; however, we were particularly intrigued by the ice cream with popcorn. While the popcorn was tasty, the real standout was the caramel ice cream, yum!

Overall, we had a great experience at Acre Restaurant; everyone was friendly, the food was delicious, and the service was speedy! We were in and out quite quickly, which is something we really like. I’d definitely go back to this restaurant the next time I’m in Cabo; it lives up to the hype.
