On our recent Alaska cruise, there was an excursion option to take a food tour in Juneau. That got us thinking, why not do some research and make our own food tour! Unfortunately, that plan didn’t come to fruition due to heavy rain, but that doesn’t mean I can’t provide my research to others for their own food tour. Here are eight places you should eat in Juneau.
1. Tracy’s King Crab Shack
Tracy’s is a Juneau staple, and what better place to have some delicious fresh caught crab. You can’t miss this one; it’s a bright red building in the heart of downtown Juneau, adorned with a giant crab!
Not just crab legs, Tracy’s also offers crab bisque and delicious crab cakes. Fresh and straight from Alaskan waters, this is seafood you can’t miss on a stop in Juneau.
2. Deckhand Dave’s Fish Tacos
Deckhand Dave’s is a pirate ship food truck serving delicious fresh fish tacos! If tacos aren’t of interest to you, don’t worry, Dave’s has a variety of other tasty options. Try out some fresh oysters or fish and chips, and don’t forget the cold beer.
If you are lucky, you may catch them selling halibut chowder or shrimp tacos. You can’t go wrong with tasty eats at this food truck.
3. Hot Guava
Hot Guava is another food truck that serves a few creative hot dogs along with some other main dishes! They serve Alaskan sausage as part of their hot dogs, which is either a choice of reindeer or bison.
Don’t miss out on trying their hot guava salsa.
4. Devil’s Club Brewing Company
Devil’s Club Brewing Company is located in the heart of downtown Juneau, not far from the port. As their name implies, they are a brewery! The brewery is modern, clean, and spacious, with high ceilings. This place can get busy so anticipate a wait!
While they primarily serve beer, they do have some food options. Order the flight with three of their adventurous ales, and pair it with a pretzel and cheese.
5. Red Dog Saloon
The Red Dog Saloon is one of the oldest tourist attractions in Juneau, originally opening during the early days of the mining era in Alaska.
Stop into the Red Dog Saloon for a good time and a pint after a long day of touring in Juneau. Check out some of the historical memorabilia on display, and don’t forget to try the seafood chowder or reindeer sausage sandwich!
6. Raven Cafe
The Raven Café is a cute little café attached to the Alaska State Museum. They serve a variety of beverages and tasty bites! This is the perfect place to stop at the beginning of your Juneau Adventure.
Pick up a coffee or delicious smoothie to start the day, and if you are feeling a bit hungry, try one of the breakfast burritos.
7. V’s Cellar
A unique hidden gem in Juneau featured on Diner’s, Drive-Ins, and Dives, V’s Cellar is a Mexican Korean fusion restaurant.
Stop in for the delicious flavor-packed food and friendly staff. You can’t go wrong here if you are looking for a tasty, unique meal. Try out the fusion nachos!
8. Alaska Fudge Company
In my opinion, fudge and Alaska go hand in hand, probably because I’ve purchased some on every Alaska Trip.
Alaska Fudge Company is a family-owned store specializing in delicious fudge and other sweet treats. If you are craving something sugary, this is the place to be!
